The Beauty of Content-free BWRT

A lovely, elderly woman appeared today for her appointment with an issue of “loss of creativity,” as she put it.

“I’ve lost my spark,” she proclaimed. First we figured out how she would like to feel.

She mused, “My pen is flowing fast.” She then constructed a future memory of her finishing her latest novel.

Her frustration at “losing her spark,” was at a 10, 10 being unbearable.

After a couple of rounds of BWRT we got the number down to 5 but we both felt something was not quite right… So we delved into the issue some more. I asked her did anything happen around the time she lost her spark?

She shook her head, but after a few moments tears were in her eyes. I asked did she want to talk about it, but she just shook her head again then said the word ‘anniversary.’

The great thing about BWRT being content free is that I didn’t need to know what was going on in her head, only how she would like to feel.

“I want to feel free,” she said. Her future memory changed into her sailing on a ship on the ocean. After 2 more rounds of BWRT she felt that her frustration of not being able to write had gone to zero. She said she felt freer and was going to get on that boat and finish her book.

I’m not entirely sure what she needed to be free of, but she left a smiling lady.
